I have a real soft spot for LucasArts adventure games.  In fact, when I’m feeling a little down I usually turn to Day of the Tentacle or Sam & Max Hit the Road for a pick-me-up.  I suppose goofy humour and obtuse puzzles are good for the soul…
So internet, how about you?  What is your ‘go-to’ game for those times when you’re feeling a little under the weather?

I’ve had some crappy luck picking up GBA Pokémon carts recently - I thought I had managed to pick up a complete set…but of course they were fakes. Ugh. As the cliché goes: you buy cheap, you pay twice.

However, I was fairly determined to pick up physical copies of these games and decided I would give it another go. This time I managed to find some boxed copies of Emerald, Sapphire and Fire Red for a reasonable price - especially given the condition they are in. The previous owner has really looked after them as the boxes are in pretty good condition. Game manuals, Nintendo VIP cards (unused!) and Fire Red still has the GBA wireless adapter - total sweetness.  In other words, a complete contrast to my original auction ‘win’.

I also got Leaf Green and Ruby, but they were from a different seller and came unboxed. They are also in good condition and who knows, I might pick up the boxes for these some day…ha!

Finding those games at the price I paid was a bonus, and looking back I’ve seen listings for the same games in much poorer condition and sometimes cart only going for +£40.  I’m just happy that they work and transfer to my other games which is the whole reason for me wanting to get physical copies…I know I could have emulated or used an R4 card, but I want to see how much of the National Dex I can complete the ‘good old fashioned way’.  It’ll be slower and no doubt more frustrating this way, but I’m interested to see how far I’ll can get.
